“The Foundation for Press Freedom (FLIP) [of Colombia] learned that the Special Investigation Unit of the Prosecutor's Office has deployed investigative actions that indicate that the murder was determined by denunciations made by Marcos Efraín [Montalvo] in his capacity as journalist.
This line of investigation coincides with the information collected by FLIP during its mission to Tuluá. After interviewing dozens of family members, journalists and local authorities, it was confirmed that Marcos was active in his work as a journalist and that his critical and denouncing voice put him at high risk."
