"Trafficker Elias Pereira da Silva, known as Elias Maluco, was found dead on Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 22) at the Catanduvas Federal Penitentiary, in western Paraná, Brazil, according to information from the Penitentiary Department (Depen).
According to Depen, the Federal Police was called in to conduct an investigation on the spot. The body will be taken to the Medical-Legal Institute (IML) of Cascavel, in the western region of the state, after the investigation.
Elias Maluco was arrested in September 2002, and in 2005 he was sentenced to 28 years and six months in prison for the death of journalist Tim Lopes."
