“The AFP news agency and Chilean fact-checking outlet Mala Espina on Tuesday launched Comprueba, a collaborative journalism alliance that brings together more than 40 media outlets to fight disinformation ahead of Chile’s general elections on Nov. 16.
Comprueba’s goal is to produce articles that debunk falsehoods circulating on social media throughout the electoral process. The reports will be published on the website comprueba.cl.
“Fighting disinformation is a huge challenge for journalism, and working together with 40 outlets from across the country will allow us to make a deep national impact, so people have access to quality information when making decisions in this election,” said Mala Espina director Tomás Martínez.”
