Ajor has published the Oasis Brasil report, a study on the sustainability and innovation of digital-native journalism organizations. The report, now available on Ajor’s website, presents an in-depth analysis of Brazil’s sector, based on data collected separately from the global study. The research, conducted between 2023 and 2024, surveyed more than 160 journalistic organizations across the country.

The report is based on data gathered as part of the Oasis Global project, which aims to build a global database on the journalism ecosystem. With support from the Google News Initiative, Ajor led data collection efforts in Brazil, contributing to a broader study conducted in partnership with organizations worldwide, including LION Publishers in North America, the European Journalism Centre, the Media and Journalism Research Center, the Global Forum for Media Development, and International Media Support in Europe.

According to Marcelo Fontoura, who coordinated the research in Brazil, the data is essential to understanding what defines digital-native journalism in the country. “Understanding this ecosystem is key to addressing it as an industry or shaping public policy,” he said.
