“Immigration officials in Nicaragua denied entry to the Cuban activist and independent journalist Yoel Acosta Gámez and his wife, Alisanni Lores Furones, the legal advisory group Cubalex reported on X.
The activist said in a video posted by Cubalex that they bought the tickets three months in advance. They had a flight scheduled for 4 a.m. July 20, departing from Uruguay with a stopover in Panamá before arriving in Nicaragua.
However, Acosta Gámez said that shortly before heading to Carrasco International Airport in Montevideo, he and his wife received an email from the airline notifying them they were not authorized to travel to Managua and, therefore, could not board the plane.”
