"Nicaraguan media critical of Daniel Ortega's government decided to suppress writer bylines in news articles as a protection measure, according to a report released on Tuesday [Aug. 10], which warned that at least 11 journalists have left the country for security reasons.

'Given the escalation of attacks and threats to the independent press, as of July, media outlets such as La Prensa, Confidencial and other digital media have decided to suppress the bylines of writers of news articles,' said La Prensa, the oldest newspaper in the country, in a report on monitoring and following up on cases of press freedom violations."
