One dead and one injured after attack on journalist William Gutiérrez in Colombia

"Authorities are investigating the attack on journalist William Eduardo Gutiérrez Ordóñez, owner director of the community radio station Alfa Estéreo, when he was on his way to his workplace.

The incident occurred when three unknown persons -two men and a woman- who were driving a motorcycle attacked the car in which the journalist was traveling and which had to slow down when crossing a gap in the sector.

The vehicle was hit at least 16 times apparently with a submachine gun. The communicator's bodyguards tried to repel the attack, but were shot several times. In the event, one of his bodyguards identified as Carlos Galvis, was seriously injured and died while receiving emergency medical attention.

The other bodyguard, whom the authorities identified as John Alexander Guzmán, was injured and was taken to a medical center in Neiva where he receives professional care. On the other hand, the director of Noticiero Popular of Alfa Estéreo, William Eduardo Gutiérrez Ordóñez, was unharmed."
