Panama: Electoral Tribunal and journalistic organizations discuss allegations against journalists

"The Electoral Tribunal and representatives of Panamanian journalistic organizations met this Monday, Oct. 9, with the goal of analyzing complaints against journalists and digital media.

This meeting arose after complaints against media and journalists for alleged violations of the rules of electoral propaganda, as contemplated in the Electoral Code.

During the meeting, representatives of the Electoral Tribunal reiterated their commitment to freedom of expression and the protection of the electoral process 'in view of risks identified.' For this reason, they agreed to review the administrative procedure to be followed in order to avoid any form of prior censorship or self-censorship."
