"Members of the Roundtable for the Safety of Journalists [of Paraguay] met yesterday [July 4] with Attorney General Emiliano Rolón Fernández to express their concern about the possible lack of follow-up and information on recent cases of threats to journalists in the interior of the country. They also asked how the investigations of the murder of journalists Alexander Álvares and Humberto Coronel were progressing, as well as the threats and aggressions against other colleagues in the Amambay area.
First of all, they committed themselves to 'inquire' about these cases with the prosecutors of each case. The approach of the Round Table for the Safety of Journalists is to follow up on the cases that affect press workers, especially those in the interior of the country."
