"A total of 20 cases of violence against journalists and social communicators, including one murder, were registered in the year 2022, in addition to 3 cases of violence against the media, according to data collected by the Roundtable for the Safety of Journalists of Paraguay (MSP, by its Spanish acronym).
Last year, Paraguay added one more case to the list of journalists murdered because of their profession, reaching the number of 20 since 1991 to date. Journalist Humberto Coronel (photo) was shot dead as he left the news outlet where he worked, Radio Amambay, in the city of Pedro Juan Caballero, on Sept. 6, 2022."
