"The National Association of Journalists of Peru (ANP, by its Spanish acronym) continues to publicly denounce the outrages and aggressions against the men and women of the press during the protests that have been taking place in various parts of Peru against the government of Dina Boluarte and the current administration of the Congress of the Republic.
A few hours after the demonstrations resumed [on Dec. 4], several citizens who went out to protest against the current Executive Branch's administration have violently assaulted and harassed several reporters and cameramen. This time, agents of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) were also no strangers to this reprehensible attitude.
According to images shared on Twitter, a group of PNP officers who kept order in the marches, pulled, pushed and hit photojournalist Walter Hupiu, who claims that at all times he identified himself as a journalist, but one of the agents replied: 'It matters a lot to me that you are press."
