Peruvian journalist reports intimidation at home by men in police vests

"Journalist Beto Ortiz reported on Sunday, April 13, that two men wearing police-style vests appeared at his home in Chaclacayo, a district in Peru’s Lima Province and asked the groundskeeper intimidating questions.

According to a report aired on Panorama, the Sunday news program of the television network where Ortiz works, the men did not identify themselves and left quickly after asking pointed questions about Ortiz’s presence at the residence.

Speaking to Infobae Perú, Ortiz said a source from the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dirincri for its initials in Spanish) told him the men were 'fake' officers, noting that police operations are not conducted on Sundays and the vehicle they used was not an official one.

Zuliana Lainez, president of the National Association of Journalists (ANP), has called for an immediate investigation into the incident."
