"On Feb. 10, 2026, the administration of the mayor of Miraflores, Carlos Canales, issued a statement accusing the journalistic team of the news program La Encerrona of having committed cybercrimes, after reporting that a link was published on the website of said municipality that exposed personal data of more than 60,000 residents of the district.

On the morning of Feb. 10, La Encerrona published a report alerting viewers to a vulnerability in the municipality's website. The report revealed that anyone could access residents' tax booklets without breaking any security measures or using any specialized software. The news program informed the municipality of Miraflores of this vulnerability before the report aired.

Once the link was removed from the website, La Encerrona published its findings, citing as an example the exposure of personal data of several public figures, including municipal officials, such as Mayor Canales's information, which is public due to his position of authority. During the broadcast of the report, La Encerrona took additional measures to avoid disseminating sensitive information about these individuals."
