“The Human Rights Ombudsman's Office of the State of Guanajuato (Prodheg, for its acronym in Spanish) opened an ex officio complaint regarding the arrest and physical assault suffered by journalist Humberto Gutiérrez, by Irapuato police, when he was covering a road accident.

The 'Irapuato Despierta' reporter, Humberto Gutiérrez, reported that he was arrested and beaten by Irapuato police when he was documenting a road accident in which a motorcyclist died.
The journalist noted that his wife was also arrested and attacked. The couple spent 14 hours in cells, and left when they paid a fine of 5,000 pesos. They were arrested at 10 p.m. on Sunday [Nov. 3] and were released at 12 p.m. on Monday [Nov. 4].”
