Protesters harass and attack reporters in La Paz, Bolivia

"Reporters from television channels and print media, as well as cameramen, were harassed, verbally assaulted, and subjected to physical attacks by protesters organized by the Bolivian Workers' Center (COB, for its Spanish acronym) [the country's chief train union federation], who staged marches and blockades in the city of La Paz this Monday [Jan. 5].

A cameraman from the private television station Red Uno in La Paz was attacked by protesters and suffered several lashings, according to a report from the station during its nightly news program.

In San Francisco Square, men and women shouting slogans against the economic emergency decree issued by President Rodrigo Paz on Dec. 17, harassed and verbally assaulted reporters, as verified by a reporter from the National Press Association's (ANP) Monitoring Unit."
