Radio station critical of Maduro announces its definitive closure in Venezuela

"The director of Radio Caracas Radio (RCR), Jaime Nestares, confirmed to CNN its decision to cease operations on the digital platforms that the outlet's used for the last four years to broadcast its programming.

RCR, which has been on air for almost 93 years, had ceased its radio broadcasts in 2019 by order of the National Telecommunications Commission, Conatel. The official body argued at that time that the concession granted to operate in the Venezuelan radio spectrum had expired.

Nestares told CNN that they are working to find a more efficient alternative in communication and that in the next few hours they will announce their next steps.

In this sense, he clarified that the announcement does not imply a goodbye but a see you soon."
