RSF warns of increasing repression of the press during peaceful protests in Argentina

"Protests in Argentina are becoming the scene of widespread repression, with members of the press being targeted by the country's armed forces. Public security actors, who should  protect and guarantee security during peaceful demonstrations, are instead deliberately obstructing press coverage through the use of violence. Reporters Without Borders (RSF, for its initials in French) condemns these attacks and urgently calls on the government of Javier Milei to stop this violent escalation before it causes irreversible damage to Argentina's democracy.

[...]

These events confirm a pattern of violence against journalists since President Javier Milei took office in December 2023. Demonstrations have taken place on a weekly basis and journalistic coverage has been repressed with increasing violence."
