Salvadoran journalist wins HMH Foundation First Amendment Award after being arrested

"Independent journalist and founder of the news outlet Memphis Noticias, Manuel Durán, will receive the HMH Foundation's First Amendment Award after winning his asylum case, following his arrest and detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The jury of the 2022 The First Amendment Awards decided to award Durán this honor in the Journalism category. Durán was covering a live protest against immigration policies in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 3, 2018, when he was arrested. (...)
