Salvadoran site El Faro starts new era with an office in Washington, D.C.

"José Luis Sanz, director of El Faro since mid-2014, left his position at the end of 2020 to open an office in Washington D.C., officially inaugurated on Jan. 20 with his coverage of the presidential change in the United States.

'Having a presence in the United States and specifically in Washington is a historical debt of El Faro and, in general, of all Central American journalism. There have been very few experiences of this type and they have all been ephemeral,' Sanz said. 'The correspondent in the United States is also key to promoting El Faro English, which we intend to become a regular and hopefully essential source for information on El Salvador and Central America from abroad,' he added."
