Six out of ten female journalists in Colombia have suffered gender violence

“[...] A significant number of women journalists are forced to quit their jobs, after having faced sexual violence. In fact, about 4 out of 10 communicators have made the decision to leave work spaces, 2 out of 5 have abandoned sources and 1 in 4 have stopping covering certain issues, after having been victims of gender violence while exercising their profession.

These and other findings are part of the study carried out by the No Es Hora De Callar (It's not time to be silent) campaign and the Democracy Observatory of the Universidad de los Andes, with the support of UN Mujeres Colombia. This part of the investigation, which will be presented today, brings together the investigation ‘Media and gender violence,’ whose first report was published by the campaign last October."
