State security agent assaults TV Perú reporter during live coverage of environment minister

“TV Perú reporter Jackeline Rodríguez said on Tuesday that she was assaulted by a state security officer while conducting a live broadcast at an official event headed by Environment Minister Juan Castro in Ucayali.

According to footage shared on her TikTok platform, Rodríguez was about to finish her coverage when she was shoved by one of the security officers responsible for the minister's protection.

After being pushed and almost removed from the screen, the reporter responded with a nervous laugh before the broadcast was interrupted and the feed switched to the studio. "There was no need to do this, the minister had already spoken to me. The laughter comes from confusion... from what was happening. This action speaks volumes about this individual, a total abuse of power,” she added.

Congresswoman Sigrid Bazán condemned the assault and said this act cannot go unpunished. "We express our full solidarity with her and demand guarantees for journalistic work," she said on X (formerly Twitter).”
