"On her way through Barcelona to present her memoir 'Cartas de amor y rebeldía [letters of love and rebellion]', Lydia Cacho explains in an interview with EFE that women journalists of her generation were pioneers 'in a men's industry where women were not welcome.'

'We lived in a world under a male gaze,' the Mexican journalist said. She added that she is still seen by many as 'that tough reporter who goes around in a leather jacket.'

She also admits to having had the Italian Oriana Fallaci as practically the only female role model in journalism, because 'most Latin American women had been murdered or persecuted.'"
