"Abraji's Tim Lopes program launched on Friday, July 22, 2022, a detailed video about the journey and last moments in life of journalist Dom Phillips and indigenist Bruno Araújo, who were chased and killed while crossing a river to Atalaia do Norte, [in Amazonas state, in Brazil]. Charged and arrested for the double murder, three men are being prosecuted by the Federal Court of Amazonas, but investigations continue.

At Abraji's request, journalists Sérgio Ramalho and Pedro Prado were in that Amazonian region of the Indigenous Land (IT) of Vale do Javari, where Indigenous people face illegal fishing and hunting. They [Ramalho and Prado] are investigating the circumstances of the deaths of Phillips and Pereira. The video was produced based on information from Indigenous people who, without being police officers, were the main investigators of the crime, managing to reach the place where the bodies were hidden."
