"A report released on Monday [Sept. 15] by the Circle of Women Journalists (CMP, for its Spanish acronym) in La Paz documented 45 attacks against the press in Bolivia between January and June 2025. Of these, 12 involved women journalists who experienced some form of violence, most often while reporting in the field.
The findings are detailed in the report 'Monitoring Attacks on Journalists During the Electoral Process, With an Emphasis on Women,' prepared by journalist Susana Moya under the supervision of CMP President Patricia Flores.

According to the report, two main factors fueled unrest in Bolivia during the first half of the year: the disqualification of former president Evo Morales (2006–2019) from the general elections on Aug. 17, and the economic crisis triggered by inflation and shortages of U.S. dollars and fuel."
