"The United States released Dámaso López Serrano, alias the 'Mini-lic.' He is the drug trafficker who in 2017 turned himself in to authorities in California and is wanted in Mexico as the alleged mastermind of the murder that same year of Sinaloa journalist Javier Valdez.
According to the US Federal Bureau of Prisons website, López was released from prison on Fri., Sept. 16.
Mexican prosecutors said in a statement on Sat. night (Sept. 17) that the Justice Department had 'verbally' informed them that López 'continues to be prosecuted for other crimes' in the United States. The Mexican prosecutor's office said it will insist on the extradition of the 'Mini-lic.'"
