"The first month of 2022 ended with 24 cases recorded, totaling 57 violations of the right to freedom of expression. The most frequent violations were harassment, intimidation and censorship, and 70% of the victims turned out to be journalists [...] The most frequent aggressors continue to be, for the most part, State institutions (36%), security forces (28%) and government officials (20%).
Compared to January of last year, we recorded a 90% increase in violations of the right to freedom of expression. This shows a State policy that constantly limits the possibility of seeking, disseminating or receiving information."
