Venezuelan influencer fatally shot during TikTok stream after alleging police corruption

"Gabriel Jesús Sarmiento Rodríguez recorded his own murder in a live Tiktok stream. The 25-year-old influencer died in his home in the El Piñonal sector, Aragua state, in the central region of Venezuela, at the hands of several armed men who had broken into his residence, according to the tiktoker's own narration. In the recording one can hear the screams of a woman calling for help while Sarmiento asks for help to Sebin intelligence officers and repeats the address of the house: 'El Piñonal, JJ Montesinos street', he says over and over again. Then a burst of gunfire sounds, the armed men appear in front of the camera and shoot twice at the young man. The transmission is cut off.

The crime occurred on Sunday night [June 22] and the video has gone viral on social media this Monday [June 23]. On Sarmiento's Tiktok account, @unleacks, which has 76,000 followers, were posted a series of denunciations made by the young man against police officers who are allegedly involved in acts of corruption and who had allegedly been extorting him, and members of the Tren de Aragua and Tren del Llano gangs."
