Venezuelan journalist fired after interview with pro-government congressman, segment taken off the air

Venezuelan journalist Seir Contreras was fired from the Globovisión channel after interviewing the deputy of the United Social Party of Venezuela, Ramón Magallanes.

According to the Venezuelan National Union of Press Workers (SNTP, by its Spanish acronym), Contreras, who was the host of the show Primera Página, learned of his dismissal through a telephone call on the afternoon of Aug. 22.

During the interview, the journalist allegedly refuted the arguments given by the deputy and said, among other things, how his sister had had to migrate from Venezuela due to the economic crisis, and that even he's had to carry water in containers when the service goes off in Caracas.

The interview was removed from Globovisión's Youtube channel, according to Contreras.
