Venezuelan journalist seeks refuge in Bogota, Colombia

"Carola Briceño, an El Nacional journalist who has published several investigations against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, arrived this Mon. (Jan. 30) in Bogotá (Colombia) after threats against her intensified.

Fearing that commandos operating on the border would kidnap her and take her to Venezuela, where she claims she could be subjected to demeaning treatment, journalist Carola Briceño fled her home in Villa del Rosario, Norte de Santander, and arrived by land in Bogotá.

Briceño, with 27 years of experience, has published important feature stories on corruption cases involving people close to Nicolás Maduro."
