"The National Union of Press Workers of Venezuela (Sntp), denounced this Tues. July 26 that the Bolivarian National Police had summoned a community journalist from the state of Zulia, with the purpose of forcing her to reveal the identity of one of her sources.
The Bolivarian National Police, stationed in Zulia, summoned the journalist of Noticia Al Día, Ernestina García, to give information about 'the information source' her news outlet had used in a story about a traffic accident in which a 5-year-old child died,' according to Sntp.
The union said that this Tuesday's was the second summons the journalist had received from the authorities. This, 'in spite of the fact that her byline does not appear in any of the stories about the mentioned incident.'"
