"The National Association of Press Workers (SNTP, for its Spanish acronym) denounced this Friday [May 23] the detention of journalist and university professor Carlos Marcano, after Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello accused him of being part of an alleged plot against the regional and legislative elections scheduled for this Sunday [May 25].
According to what was published by the SNTP on X, 'Fellow journalist and also university professor Carlos Marcano was detained this Friday morning, May 23, at 6:30 am (10.30 GMT). They raided his residence in the Miranda urbanization, in the Sucre municipality (Caracas) and took him away.'
The association also pointed out that Marcano is a graduate of the Universidad Monteávila and collaborates in the area of communications with several Venezuelan organizations, although it did not specify which."
