Women, relegated in Latin American literature and journalism (UNESCO)

"Women continue to be relegated in literary production and journalism, occupying around 30% of those spaces, according to a study by UNESCO and the International PEN organization and carried out in five Latin American countries.

The report "Women in command of the word", presented this Monday, April 11 in Mexico City, documents the situation of cultural writers and journalists in Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, Ecuador, and Guatemala.

The participation of women in these areas, be it by publishing books or articles, receiving awards or having their work promoted, is "only 30%," Alicia Quiñones, from PEN International's program for Latin America, said at a press conference."
