"The Gabo Foundation, an institution created by journalist and Nobel Prize winner in Literature, Gabriel García Márquez, announced the winners of the Gabo Award 2022, the most important recognition of journalism in Spanish and Portuguese, in its five competition categories: Text, Coverage, Image, Photography, and Audio.

'El polizón y el capitán,' a chronicle by Ricardo Robins published in six parts by the digital newspaper Rosario 3, won in the Text category, while 'La Segunda Muerte del Dios Punk,' a nine-episode podcast produced by Nicolás Maggi and Erre Podcast, from Radio Universidad de Rosario, won in Audio, one of the two categories added to the contest in 2022.
[...] 'El dolor silencioso de Ucrania' -a cover-up of the Russian-Ukrainian war by Rodrigo Abd from Buenos Aires for Associated Press- was the winner in Photography, the other new category of the contest. [...] [In the Image category] another work on the conflict in Ukraine won the Gabo 2022 Award: 'Reportagem multimédia em Andriivka. Radiografia de uma aldeia sob ocupación russa durante 30 dias' (Multimedia report on Andreevka. A 30-day x-ray of a village under Russian occupation), by a team of five journalists and designers from the Portuguese digital newspaper Observador.
The winner in the Coverage category was 'No fue el fuego' ('It wasn't the fire'), a multiplatform journalistic special produced by a group of 14 professionals from different disciplines for Agencia Ocote, of Guatemala."
