"In an atmosphere of celebration, relaxation and joy, the +Admired Black Journalists of the Brazilian Press were honored in São Paulo on Monday night (Nov. 13). In its first edition, the initiative organized by Jornalistas&Cia/Portal dos Jornalistas, 1 Papo Reto, Neo Mondo, and Rede JP recognized the professionals and news outlets that have stood out most in their coverage of racial issues and in the anti-racist struggle. The meeting brought together around 200 journalists, authorities and guests at Unibes Cultural and awarded Zileide Silva, a senior reporter for Jornal Nacional and TV Globo's Journalism, the title of champion of the +Admired Black Journalists of the Brazilian Press Award.
"This award, in particular, is very important for us, because when I started in this profession we could count on the fingers of one hand how many Black journalists occupied this space. Today, we are here receiving this award," Silva said.
