"The Honduran College of Journalists (CPH, for its initials in Spanish) expressed its rejection of the recent legal action taken by Finance Minister Cristhian Duarte against journalist Dagoberto Rodríguez, after the official filed an appeal against previous court rulings in favor of the journalist.
The guild described it as worrisome that, after two unfavorable rulings, one in the first instance and the other on appeal, Duarte has opted to pursue a new legal remedy, which, according to the CPH, represents a form of undue pressure on journalistic work.
'The judicialization of journalists' work is a sign of regression for freedom of expression and the right of the Honduran people to be informed,' the Honduran Journalists Association said on its X account, where it also demanded respect for democratic principles and the free exercise of critical journalism in Honduras."
