“Journalist Román Nappa, [from the city of Minas], was the victim of a violent attack on the street this Thursday, Nov. 27, by two men who beat him while insulting him for his work on the news program ‘Sin pelos en la lengua’ (Without Minced Words), which airs Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Radio Federal FM in Lavalleja.
The attack occurred around 9:10 a.m. when Nappa was approaching his car and two people got out of a car with Montevideo license plates and began insulting him. They immediately attacked him, knocking him into a ditch, at which point they punched and kicked him, causing injuries to his face and body.
Nappa managed to escape his attackers, who got back into their vehicle and fled the scene. […]
The attack comes at a time when Nappa is facing two police reports for having broadcast on his program the testimony of a man accused of gender-based violence, who was formally charged by the courts. He is currently deprived of his freedom.”
