Honduras press group says ruling party supporters attacked radio journalist

"Journalist Claudia Cáceres, who has worked for several years at the radio station Radio Cadena Voces, reported Tuesday (Jan. 20) that she was assaulted by activists from the Libertad y Refundación (Libre) party solely for doing her job as a journalist.

The attack against Cáceres occurred Tuesday morning as she was leaving the offices of the National Electoral Council. 'I was intercepted by a group of masked individuals, Libre activists,' she said in a message posted on social media.

Intolerance of criticism by senior officials in the Libre government, which has marked the administration’s relationship with RCV, appears to have spread to the party’s grassroots supporters."
