"Magistrates of the Chamber of Amparo and Preliminary Proceedings of the Supreme Court of Justice upheld the release of journalist José Rubén Zamora Marroquín. This decision followed the resolution of several amparo (protective) petitions through which the defense sought to maintain alternative measures for the journalist.

Pursuant to the resolution issued by the Chamber of Amparo and Preliminary Proceedings, José Rubén Zamora retains his liberty pending the issuance of a sentence against him. The Third Chamber for Criminal Matters has yet to hear an appeal filed regarding the alternative measures granted to Zamora.
In February, the Public Prosecutor's Office appealed the judicial ruling granting house arrest to journalist Zamora Marroquín. This appeal was referred to the Third Chamber of Appeals in Criminal Matters."
