"Samuel Rodolfo Vizcarra Velarde admitted to his involvement in the kidnapping and murder of journalist and El Debate newspaper columnist Luis Enrique Ramírez Ramos and was sentenced to 19 years in prison for the crime of aggravated homicide, the State Attorney General's Office of Culiacán reported.
The conviction of the perpetrator of the crime against journalist Ramírez Ramos came nearly four years after the killing that shook Sinaloa and once again placed the issue of violence against the press in Mexico on the national agenda.
