"Abraji (Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism, for its Portuguese initials) vehemently condemns the threats of intimidation, as well as physical and sexual violence, directed at journalist Andréia Sadi—a GloboNews anchor—and her family members. Deepfake videos, insults and threats proliferated on social media after Sadi read an on-air retraction from the broadcaster regarding the presentation of an infographic concerning investigations into Daniel Vorcaro on Monday, March 23.
Since the incident, the journalist has received thousands of misogynistic and aggressive messages, threatening her physical safety and moral integrity. She was also targeted by the creation of deepfake videos, in which her image was digitally manipulated using artificial intelligence to attribute false statements to her. Sadi was also a victim of stalking, receiving images of her daily life—as well as that of her family—as a means of intimidating and silencing her."
