Distribution of the newspaper El Financiero has been temporarily suspended after two employees for the Mexican newspaper were reported missing on Nov. 15, in the state of Zacatecas, according to El Espectador.
"Two employees from El Financiero disappeared leaving Zacatecas. In their last communication, they said they were being followed by two patrols 02349 and 02360," tweeted Rogelio Cárdenas, editor of the newspaper on Nov. 15.
The newspaper's regional circulation manager, Osvaldo García Íñiguez, and a driver, José Ortiz Parra, left the city of Zacatecas on the afternoon of Nov. 14, driving towards Guadalajara in a white Nissan truck reported, La Carpa and El Financiero. When the two did not arrive at their destination on the morning of Nov. 15, they were reported missing to the Attorney General of Zacatecas and the Special Prosecutor for Crimes against Journalists.
Following the disappearance, the newspaper announced that it would suspend distribution in the state of Zacatecas until the authorities could guarantee safe passage on the state's highways. "For this reason, we will allow our print subscribers to view the newspaper online at no additional charge," the newspaper said on its website.
