"The Nicaraguan prosecutor's office reported this Tuesday (August 24) that it accused the journalist Carlos Fernando Chamorro Barrios for the crimes of money, goods and assets laundering, appropriation and improper retention and abusive management, within the case against the Violeta Barrios de Chamorro Foundation.
Chamorro, one of the most critical voices of the government led by the Sandinista Daniel Ortega and winner of the 38th Ortega y Gasset Journalism Awards, left Nicaragua last June, amid a wave of arrests against several opposition political leaders, businessmen and journalists, to avoid being apprehended."
