Daniel Ortega's regime threatens and expels journalists from Spanish-language TV channel based in Florida from Nicaragua

"Daniel Ortega's regime denied entry to the country and threatened to arrest the journalistic team of MegaTV, a Spanish-language channel based in Miami, Florida, on April 24. The journalists were forcibly expelled from the country and sent to El Salvador.

The journalist Camilo Loret de Mola and his cameraman, César Torero, were detained at the Managua International Airport and later deported on the grounds that they did not have with them proof of the COVID-19 exam, despite the fact that they both had their documentation in order.

'When we arrived, we arrived separately and, to our surprise, at the initial medical checkpoint state security agents dressed in civilian clothes approached the cameraman and called him by name. [...] Cuban intelligence was there, it's the same method. I felt as if I were at the José Martí International Airport (in Cuba),' said Loret, who closely follows the situations of countries governed by repressive regimes such as Nicaragua, Venezuela and Cuba."
