Relatives of Evaristo Ortega Zárate found the van he was driving a week ago when he is believed to have been kidnapped in Xalapa, Veracruz, the Veracruzanos.info site reports, with information from news agencies.

Ortega is editor of Espacio, a weekly publication in the community of Colipa and a precandidate for mayor. He is the fourth media worker who has disappeared in similar fashion in Mexico this year. His family has not ruled out a kidnapping but said they have not been asked for a ransom, so he is officially reported as "disappeared," La Jornada adds.

Police are suspected to be involved, El Universal reports. A local politician has demanded an investigation, Notimex says.
