Colombian president increases state advertising budget for community and alternative media

"With a two-page directive, Gustavo Petro's government ordered that at least one third of the media budget plan of each entity be allocated to advertising in community and alternative media. On past occasions, the president told his officials of his interest in allocating more resources like this.

The directive does not apply immediately but looks to 2025 and states that the Executive entities 'will seek, in accordance with their budgetary availability, to allocate an amount corresponding to 33.3% of the resources assigned for the Media and/or Communications Plans, for the dissemination of official information (...) through the public service of community radio broadcasting and community television, alternative media, digital broadcasting and new technologies.'"
