Arab-Argentines take offense to Clarín newspaper cartoon

Argentina's Arab community spoke out against against a Dec. 31, 2011, cartoon published in the newspaper Clarín, where a man in sandals, turban, and a belt of dynamite was selling imported fireworks, reported the news agency UPI.

"It is a clear allusion to associate Arabs and Muslims with bombs, terrorism, violence and injustice, and we're sick and tired of it," the Federation of Arab-Argentine Groups of Buenos Aires and Conurbano said in response to the cartoon by Cristóbal Reinoso "Crist," who has published his work in the Clarín newspaper's back page since 1973.
