The jury for the Nuremberg International Human Rights Award unanimously selected journalist Hollman Morris as winner of the prize that the German city has presented since 1995, EFE reports.
Morris, who is currently a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, will receive the prize in September 2011. According to the jury, Morris has "with admirable courage—and at a high personal risk—made visible the victims of the horrible armed conflict prevailing in his native country Colombia, and in his TV programmes has given them a voice."
Morris is founder of the TV program Contravía (Counter Current), and according to EFE is the second Latin American to win the award.
