The full program and complete list of speakers will soon be available, but two of the four keynote speakers have just been announced: Meredith Kopit Levien, president and CEO of The New York Times Company, and Versha Sharma, editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue.

“The first two keynote speakers for the 25th ISOJ reflect two of the most important challenges for the news industry as it adapts to the digital era: The business side, the sustainability of a newspaper as it moves from print to digital, and, at the audience side, effective ways to reach out to young audiences,” said professor Rosental Alves, ISOJ’s founder and chair.

“For more than a decade, Meredith Kopit Levien has been a leader in the extraordinary success of The New York Times to become a successful, profitable business in the digital era. And Versha Sharma has been on the frontline of innovative online journalism during her entire career and, in the last three years, she has successfully led the newsroom of Teen Vogue,” Alves said.

Kopit Levien, leader of The New York Times Company’s global operations and director of its business strategy, has held multiple positions at the Company since joining in 2013. She was formerly COO, executive vice president, chief revenue officer and head of advertising. She’s also a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute and serves on the board of directors of The New York Times Company and Instacart. Kopit Levien previously worked at Forbes and the Atlantic.

Before serving as editor-in-chief at Condé Nast’s Teen Vogue, Sharma was managing editor and senior correspondent for NowThis, where she helped to grow the digital native outlet’s short-form video news brand. She also worked at Vocativ, MSNBC’s Lean Forward and Talking Points Memo. She is on the board of directors of the Online News Association and the International Women’s Media Foundation, and a frequent speaker on journalism and media.

Stay tuned for future announcements of more stellar keynote speakers and panelists.
