Soccer official attacks radio reporter in Brazil

By Maira Magro

Journalist Rodrigo Santos, of Rádio Cidade in Brusque, Santa Catarina, was punched and kicked by an official of the Catarinense Soccer Federation (FCF), Delfim Peixoto Neto, reported Diário Catarinense. After the attack, Santos lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital.

The attack took place after a soccer game on Saturday, July 10, when Neto and four bodyguards invaded the radio transmission booth. Besides being an FCF official, Neto also is the son of the president of the institution.

The journalist filed a police report and recounted the incident in his blog. Recently, Santos published on his site a video in which an FCF director said Neto is being questioned about the appointment of referees in the state.
