Andrés Izarra, Venezuelan minister of information and communications, criticized journalists from El Nuevo Herald de Miami for falsely reporting that President Hugo Chávez was rushed to a hospital in the capital, Caracas, reported AFP.
"Who they have to admit are the reporters of [El] Nuevo Herald, but into an asylum. #ChavezLosTieneLocos," Izarra tweeted.
According to the Nuevo Herald, Chávez suffered kidney failure and was rushed to the Military Hospital of Caracas on Tuesday, Sept. 27. "When he arrived he was in bad shape," a source told the newspaper.
Only the president himself can divulge information about his health, explained La Nación. It still is unknown what kind of cancer he has.
On Sept. 22, Chávez returned from his fourth round of chemotherapy in Cuba. On Sunday, Sept. 25, he said he was "healthy" during a phone call broadcast on state television, according to Minutouno.com.
Chavez maintains a tense relationship with the press.
